2020 - 2021
Pandemic I is a photography and video based work focused on the experience of the Coronavirus pandemic and how I was dealing with it. The work explores my conflicting emotions and thoughts while shielding; both feeling trapped and peaceful.
I worked with my DSLR, tripod and objects I gathered around my home. Inspired by artists Kevin Best and Richard Kuiper to get my work started where I learnt about still life photography and how the lighting and placement of objects change the perspective of photos. The main character in my work has been the joker which makes an appearance to show what I thought, watched, or read about this pandemic. To portray the stories, truths and lies I heard and thought about to make the audience question is this all a joke?

The video explores the happiness through nature and the peace I felt during shielding however, it also shows the emotions I felt of being trapped because I was home all the time. It felt like living a different life and everything was changing so fast and every day was different.
